Access control
How does changing content access affect functionality and costs?
There are two levels of access control for spatial content:
- Public content is accessible to anyone
- Private content is accessible only to the hub owner and admins
Hub administrators can individually set content access for all content types. Changes take effect immediately, providing admins and owners with great flexibility in managing their data.
This is how it works:
Accessibility
Changing the access level immediately impacts who can view and download the data.
Pricing
Prices vary between the two modes, offering significant savings when access levels are proactively managed.
Egress quota
The access level influences the egress quota. Usage that exceeds this quota ('extreme egress') may result in additional costs.
Typical usage
Which mode to choose? The best fit access level is determined by accessibility and cost considerations.
Public content is accessible for all users to view and download. Since it is the publishing mode that facilitates massive streaming of spatial data, it also incurs the highest cost.
Set content to private mode for staging, testing, or if the content does not need to be accessed by others. This mode is also an excellent way to archive content for future use at a significantly lower cost.
